Heres a threatening notion: in 2005
Reuters, the worlds oldest news gathering organization, reported that
museum curators were no longer able
to afford to buy the works of "living artists". ART- having outstripped even
the bond market as the most likely
investment to appreciate-was now commanding the most astronomical prices ever, raising the value of
bonifide, validated works of living art stars beyond the reach of the
museums and the mere exhibitions
intended for the art in that context.
Oddly though, the examples of this fabulously expensive investmunt art
mentioned were a temporary sculpture
made of fresh flowers & a bar of soap fabricated from the liposuctioned fat of the italian prime minister. ???????????
